The blizzard of 2011 last week is expected to exact a tremendous toll-- up to $1.4 billion in property and other damage, s according to AIR Worldwide.
February will likely prove to be an expensive and busy month for insurers assessing storm damage and administering claims from Texas to Maine.
The massive storm, which is said to be one of the largest since the 1950s, affected nearly 100 million people across 30 states. Modeling firm AIR Worldwide has estimated the cost of the storm to be at least $790 million and possibly as high $1.4 billion in insured losses to residential, commercial and industrial properties and their contents, and to automobiles.
The cost range is expansive as their will be many more claims arriving at insurer offices when the snow and ice begins melting and ice dams create further home damages.
Depending on the speed of the melt, homeowner and business property owners need to be aware of potential damages and try to mitigate them as best as possible.
